Libby Day is a lifeless woman who survived the massacre of her family in their farmhouse in the countryside of Kansas when she was eight. She's been living on donations and lectures ever since. Thirty years ago, the police believed that a satanic cult was responsible for the murder of her mother and two sisters, and her brother Ben was convicted with her testimony in court. Today, however, an acquaintance, Lyle Wirth, invites Libby to visit "The Kill Club", where amateurs investigate famous crimes, and she finds that they believe Ben is innocent. Libby needs money and, in return, accepts to revisit the slaughter of her family and comes up to the painful revelations and the ultimate truth.

With all the powerhouse actors in this film I assumed it would be so much better. But being a Gillian Flynn book, which are notorious for being &quot;great stories&quot; but extremely slow I should have expected it to be just, OK. I found myself doing laundry because this movie was so slow. Once again shocked at the actors in this film. <br/><br/>I saw this film going many different directions and even had some ideas that it would have been better if &quot;this&quot; happened instead. <br/><br/>Are the rumors of bad blood between Nicholas and the diva Charleze true because it sure seemed like it, yet she can play a very convincing b*tch. Her performance here was just uncomfortable and odd. I think giving it 5 stars was generous but if it had a different cast where I wasn&#39;t expecting such high caliber then it would have received more stars because the storyline was decent. extremely slow but decent.
Barely an average movie, it didn&#39;t live up to the expectation. After watching Gone Girl I thought maybe this movie would be as good. There are a lot of parts in the movie where you get really bored and they&#39;re not even important like they can be skipped. The acting was good probably it was the best thing about the movie. As one of the people who read the book, I found the book not as interesting as Gone Girl so probably this is what the movie could offer but still I hoped for better, the screenplay could have been written in a more interesting way. The shocking parts about the story with the poor writing, are not shocking at all, you watch them as just another scene in the movie. I wouldn&#39;t recommend the movie but I wouldn&#39;t dis-recommend the movie as well. P.S. If David Fincher directed this movie, it would have been a lot more interesting. Also not a huge David Fincher fan!!
Slouching Theron is absolutely convincing as a self-loathing haunted soul with zero ambition. As the town’s “rich slut,” Chloe Grace Moretz gives yet another pitch-perfect performance. Both actresses elevate the material, making a somewhat far-fetched story both believable and enjoyable.
In the book it explains that Patty Day had hired the hitman to kill her, she didn&#39;t specify how she wanted to die just that it would be quick- and on the agreement that no one would see. So in the book there&#39;s a knock on the door extremely late at night, she goes to answer it and the guy goes to stab her in the heart but he misses, ends up stabbing her a second time and then one of her kids see&#39;s so he kills her as well (Debby i think?). But obviously as far as Patty knows Libby will come to no harm as she leaves her in that room away from the killer and has arranged for her sister to come by very early the next morning to find her body.
